TRW's Electronic Systems Group (ESG) published two completely distinct journals with the same name:  "Messages" (a newspaper spelled as a proper-noun uppercase) & "messages" (a magazine spelled all lowercase) during the years listed in the table below.

"With this issue of Messages, we are initiating a new ESG employee publication whose objective is to keep everyone informed about programs and activities with the Group. ... As you all know, we are nearing the end of our second year as a Group.  Our segment of the defense business has remained healthy, presenting us with an excellent opportunity to continue the rapid growth we have experienced over the last several years."--Messages vol. 1, No. 1, November 1983

"One step toward improving our communications is the series of ESG news bulletins, begun this year, to inform you of major ESG accomplishments and program milestones.  This first issue of Messages magazine, which will be distributed quarterly to all ESG employees, marks another important step in keeping you informed.  As the only major publication that reaches all 6,000 ESG employees..."--messages vol. 1, No. 1, June 1990

"In late 1992, ESG merged with the TRW Space & Technology Group to form the TRW Space & Electronics Group (S&EG).  With this issue, Messages debuts as S&EG's magazine.  It will be distributed quarterly to S&EG's more than 7,000 employees and its customers"--messages vol. 4, No. 1, May 1993
