"With this issue we introduce Readout, a weekly bulletin for STL to be distributed every Monday morning to all personnel.  Its primary purpose will be to consolidate all general Company announcements, to list a schedule of meeting and activities of the week, to assist STLEA goups in publicizing their programs, to report timely developments occuring between issues of SenTineL, and to provide a Classified Ad Column as a free service to personnel at STL."--Readout For Week Beginning: 10 November (1958)

It was usually a single 8.5x11" page (occasionally 8.5x14" or sometimes 11x17" folded into 4 pages).  Regular features included:

  • holiday reminders
  • New Appointments / Personnel Assignments (promotions)
  • On-The-Move (departmental relocations)
  • (schedule of) Technical Meetings and Film Reports
  • Security Notes
  • Seen The Latest (official company bulletins)

Initially each issue was dated with the statement, "For Week Beginning" followed by the day & month, not even the year until volume & numbering appeared with vol. II, no. 30 on June 27, 1960.  From this, it can be deduced that the volumes followed STL's "year" from November to October even after it evolved into TRW.  The numbering system ended with vol. XIII, no. 47 on December 31, 1970, though the bulletin itself continued to be published.  The last copy preserved by the TRW Retirees Association is 7 October 1983.

"The Readout, a popular weely paper for TRW employees in the Los Angeles area for many years, is now online at http://infoweb.sp.trw.com/readout/.  The online version, called Los Angeles Readout, was created for employees in the Los Angeles area and at the Capistrano Test Site.  It allows employees to submit classified ads online and provides information on Space Park events, community volunteer opportuniities, work/life programs, and Space Park employee stores and clubs. ... Epitaph:  Northrop Grumman continued posting L.A. Readout till at least October 2018, but by September 2022 it had been abandoned (based on posts regarding it on NG's internal wiki-forum).
